Your guide to spinal health, conditions and symptoms
You may not think much about your spinal health until something starts to feel wrong. But recognising what comfortable, free flowing movement feels like helps you notice early changes — stiffness, recurring tension, reduced mobility — before they become persistent problems.
If you’ve noticed discomfort that keeps returning, symptoms that don’t fully resolve, or pain that’s beginning to limit your day-to-day life, you’ll find clear guidance below on common conditions and how osteopathy can help. Pain is often the final signal that something needs attention. Early assessment and treatment can help prevent things escalating.
Common conditions I help with
Back Pain
Persistent or recurring pain in the lower back that limits movement or affects daily life.
Shoulder Pain
Pain around the shoulder joint, often connected to posture, strain or repetitive movement.
Neck Pain
Tension, stiffness and cervicogenic headaches originating from neck stress or posture.
Sciatica
Pain, tingling or numbness that travels down the leg.
Headaches
Headaches can be helped with osteopathy with cranial and structural approaches.
TMJ Dysfunction
Pain and issues associated with the jaw joint.
These are some of the most common presentations seen in clinic. If your symptoms aren’t listed, feel free to get in touch to discuss whether osteopathy may be appropriate for you.
What is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands-on, whole-body approach to understanding and treating pain and movement dysfunction. We don’t just calm symptoms — we assess how your body is moving and functioning to build a plan that supports lasting change.
What To Expect
Day 1 - Consultation
At your initial consultation, I take a thorough history of your symptoms, medical background and lifestyle factors.
A detailed physical examination follows, assessing your posture, movement patterns and how your body is functioning as a whole.
This appointment allows me to gather the full picture before making a diagnosis and forming a structured plan of action.
Day 2 - Plan of Action
At your second appointment, I explain clearly what is contributing to your symptoms and how we can address them.
You’ll receive a personalised plan outlining:
The recommended treatment approach
Expected timeframes
What you can do between sessions
How we aim to prevent recurrence
This ensures you understand your diagnosis and feel confident in the direction we’re taking.
Day 3 & Beyond
From here, we begin implementing your treatment plan.
This may include osteopathic manual therapy, mobility work, rehabilitation exercises and practical guidance to support your recovery at home.
Each session builds on the previous one. We review progress regularly, adjust where needed and work towards your individual goals — whether that’s resolving pain, improving performance or building long-term resilience.
Treatment is always collaborative and proceeds at a pace that feels right for you.
